For two years we were engaged in affiliate marketing for insurance companies. The main focus was high-end life insurance but we did dabble with the other projects. The reason the lead function was outsourced to us was because of our ability to use behaviour and data to hyper-focus on target groups. The higher quality leads meant more sales and more confident salespeople. The top quality results came after three months once the pilots and data could indicate “where” and “when” to target “who” with “what” series of messages.

Affiliate marketing means getting paid for sales, and in one of the most competitive industries in South Africa is not for the faint at heart. To achieve results like a 52% conversion rate (lead to sale) with over a 1000 leads coming in a month, is a badge we proudly wear. It was not easy though, this took months of hard work,  the fine combing of data and multiple pilot tests of the data to achieve. The high levels of investment required combined with the risks meant learning the importance of the finer details and impact of the message timing combination with nurturing.

Notes on the campaigns

The magic of the campaigns may start with matching the creative with the target market but the actual driver that achieved the results was achieved behind the scenes. What gave us results was using the data and setting up multiple funnels and messages to convert the right person at the right time. The rest came from the natural progression of the sales agents believing that the leads were good, and so, applying themselves with confidence.
